Ever since actress Suman Ranganathan visited her parents in Bangalore three months ago, she’s been the hottest thing on the grapevine. People have been talking about her split with husband model Gautam Kapoor. “I know everyone’s talking. The fact is, we’ve broken up and decided to go our separate ways, says Suman.
However, there’s disappointment for those seeking drama, sob stories or bitter vendetta.
“It’s difficult to believe, but we’re still good friends. I’m in touch with Gautam’s mom, dad, sister and even his uncle. I got very attached to his family. The actress (who performed hit numbers in Kurukshetra and Aa Ab Laut Chalein) is relieved there’s no bad blood. “We just didn’t seem to get along as a couple, that’s all.
For Suman, who lived as a paying guest when she came to Mumbai to try her luck in showbiz, life has come a full circle. She quit films and moved into her matrimonial home in South Mumbai. Now, she’s back to living alone in her Lokhandwala Complex apartment. “It’s not easy living alone but I’ve done it before.
Unlike most actresses seeking comebacks, it’s been an easy return for the curly-haired beauty. “I’ve been very lucky. The moment I decided to return to films, I got two good projects. There’s Ravi Chopra’s Baaghban along with Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Aman Verma. There’s also Manisha Koirala’s home production, Market. Suman isn’t daunted by her absence from Bollywood; she says actresses attempt comebacks after years of being married and having kids. “I’m looking better now; I was missing from Bollywood for only 18 months! Let’s hope her new marriage works this time — that’s her reunion with films!
